Meet Mrs. Beatty

I am very excited to be starting another year with the Kennedy Cowboys!
I have attended various Norman Public Schools and graduated from Norman North in 2001. After completing high school I attended the University of Oklahoma where I received my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education in 2005. BOOMER SOONER! I have since added Early Childhood to my certification and am passionate about continuing my own education to become a better teacher and life long learner.
This year I too will a student again. I began my Masters program at UCO in Edmond and will be taking evening classes to further my knowledge as a reading specialist.
Since completing my degree I taught second grade in Frisco, Texas for two years. I was eager to move back home to be close to family and part of the best public school in the nation.
I have spent a lot of time deciding carefully and researching ways to understand and implement a classroom environment that is safe, healthy, responsible and interactive for every member of our classroom community. I have studied and intergraded many theories of Love and Logic as well as Positive Discipline techniques in our classroom community.
I am so excited to dive into the 2010-2011 school year. I am excited to work through Norman Public School's new reading program which has provided our classroom with many new and helpful resources that will allow me to target your child's individual reading needs and create life-long readers with strong reading skills and a desire to foster this wonderful gift of reading.
Along with the regular classroom reading curriculum, our reading resource rooms have added a new small group targeted reading kit. These new resources provide focused and in-depth lessons in reading aimed at each specific learner. I am very excited and feel positive these new resources will be an added bonus to our classroom.
Consistency will be my top priority as your child makes the move into our classroom. I hope that you and your child are as excited as I am for this school year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns about our room or your child.
